It is a condition of your black box insurance policy that your box is plugged in and working at all times. If you tamper with or unplug the box, your policy may be cancelled. You will be notified if this is the case.
What happens if my black box gets accidentally unplugged?

Your data is held securely. It is used to help provide feedback on your driving and create a driving score. This data will be shared with our partners who manage claims and your insurer to prevent fraud as well as help provide the best possible renewal quote at the end of your policy.
We will not release your data to the police or to any civil authorities, unless we suspect fraud or attempted fraud, or if we are required to do so by law or court order.
What data is collected by my black box?

If you purchase a new car, you can easily update this on your black box insurance policy. You’ll need to call us on 0333 230 9277 to let us know.
Once your policy’s updated, you can either remove the self-fit black box from your old car yourself and plug it into your new car, or we can send you a new self-fit box if needed.

You can drive straight away from the ‘policy effective’ date on your policy documents. Your self-fit black box will be sent as soon as your insurance policy starts. Once it arrives, you’ll need to have the black box up and running straight away to avoid cancellation of your policy.
What do I do if my black box hasn’t been delivered?

As the black box uses GPS technology we can help the police with locating the car. If your car is stolen call us on 0333 230 9277 as soon as you have your Crime Reference Number.

Your cover requires you to have your black box fitted and working at all times for the entire duration of your policy. Even if you’re not driving your car for long periods of time, we still need your black box to be connected.

Once your black box is fitted and we receive your signal you will be sent an email with information on how to register your online account called “My Account”.
You’ll also be provided with information via the Endsleigh Loop app. This is where your driving score will be displayed as well as feedback on your driving behaviour.

OBD
The ingenie self-fit OBD box is a small cube shaped device which plugs into the OBD port (or the on-board diagnostics port if you like to be fancy) in your car. It’s super simple to plug this in yourself, but if you’re not sure where your OBD port is, just check out our handy box location checker on our help page.
12v
The ingenie self-fit 12v is a small device which plugs into the 12v socket in your car. It’s really easy to plug in yourself, it’s usually in the front console area, but if you’re not sure where your 12v socket is, just check out your car’s handbook.

When you plug in your black box you will see a red light flash. If it doesn’t flash, check it is properly plugged in and nothing is stopping it from being fully plugged in. We will receive a signal when it is working and send you an automatic email asking you to set up your online account. If you don’t receive an email then please email us at connect@endsleigh.co.uk.
