It’s no secret that gadgets can be expensive to replace - but they’re also designed to be used on the go, which means they tend to be prone to drops. Tablet insurance is designed to protect your tablet against theft, accidental and malicious damage, either at home or while you're out and about.
If you love your tablet, you don’t know what you’d do without it and you couldn’t afford to directly replace it if anything happened to it, you should probably get it insured.
Whilst there isn’t a law which makes it compulsory for you to have insurance for your tablet, it’s definitely a sensible option and makes sure that your favourite gadget is always protected under the level of cover that you need.
Yes you can! We know that sometimes you may want to purchase a second-hand tablet – especially if you’re a student or a particularly savvy shopper. That’s why we’re able to provide cover for second-hand tablets (as long as they’re not more than three years old when your cover begins). You’ll just need to keep your proof of purchase to show us.

So if you drop your tablet and experience the heart-wrenching moment when you realise the screen has cracked, you won’t need to worry about finding a trusted screen repair company or working through shards of glass for the foreseeable future. All you’ll need to do is put a claim in and pay your excess fee. Then we’ll either work on repairing your screen, or organise a 24 hour replacement tablet (from when your claim has been approved) if it's lost*, stolen or it can’t be repaired!

You may find yourself asking ‘Can you claim for a tablet on your home insurance?’ If you have home insurance, your tablet may already be covered under the same policy. This will depend on your insurance provider and the cover you initially took out, so you should check your policy documents to find out whether you need to take out additional cover.
My tablet is covered under home insurance, is this cover enough?
One of the most important things to check is the location where your tablet is covered.
If your gadgets are covered under your home insurance, they will usually only be covered while they’re inside your property – so if you wanted to take your tablet out and about with you (for example, to your uni library), you would no longer be covered under the policy. This would mean that if anything happened to your tablet whilst you were outside of your home, you couldn’t claim from your insurance and you’d have to fork out for a new device or to have it repaired.
I’m a student heading to university, will I be covered under my parent’s home insurance?

1/ Insure gadgets together

3/ Use our Everywhere Student Packs
Our Everywhere Student Packs save you time and money! Insure a bulk of your gadgets together without even needing to specify them.
For each claim, you'll pay the first £50, except for a loss claim where you'll need to pay the first £75 of the claim (if loss cover is selected).
If your device is new or still under warranty, you may think that you don’t need insurance. However, warranty normally only covers you for issues related to manufacturing faults. It won’t cover you for accidents such as cracked screens/accidental damage.
So if you’re looking to make sure your tablet is protected under other circumstances (such as the above, or malicious damage), you should take out insurance.

Yes you can! One of the best things about insuring with Endsleigh is that you can get up to 15% off for insuring your gadgets together. Whether you’d like to get mobile phone and tablet insurance, or throw your laptop into the mix too, insuring your gadgets together is cheaper than insuring them alone.
You can choose to add cover for accidental loss onto your tablet policy. This is particularly useful if you’re forgetful and scared of leaving an expensive item behind!
A replacement cost is the amount of money needed to replace one of the items you want to cover on your Everywhere Student Pack insurance.
Our Everywhere Student Packs each have a limit which means that you won't be covered for items that are more expensive than the replacement cost on your statement of insurance.
Maximum placement costs for our Everywhere Student Packs are as follows:
£1,000 pack = Items that cost no more than £500 are covered
£1,500 pack = Items that cost no more than £750 are covered
£2,500 pack = Items that cost no more than £1,250 are covered
Let’s give you an example.
Jack just bought a new laptop which cost him £300. He then takes out our Everywhere Student Pack insurance which gives him £1,000 of cover. Jack also knows that he wouldn’t be able to claim for anything more expensive than the maximum replacement cost of £500 on this pack.
A few months later, Jack’s laptop is dropped and damaged. Because the maximum replacement cost on Jack’s policy is £500 and his laptop cost £300, this means that he can make a claim. Had Jack's laptop cost more than £500, it wouldn't be covered and Jack would be unable to claim.
It's always worth checking that your items don't cost more than the maximum replacement cost when taking out our Everywhere Student Packs. If any of your items do cost more than the highest replacement cost (£1,250), you can choose to build your own cover.

Our laptop/tablet theft policy provides cover for devices with a replacement cost up to £1,250.

How long will it take to get a replacement tablet after a claim?
We know you won’t want to be without your tablet for long. If your tablet has been lost*, stolen or it can’t be repaired, we aim to get you a replacement within 24 hours of approving your claim.
Will my replacement tablet be the same model as my previous one?
Our approved supplier will always try their best to replace your tablet with a brand new model. If the model of your tablet isn’t available anymore, you’ll be provided with the nearest equivalent. We also have settlement options that you can choose from.
