Universities continuing to seek external wellbeing support for students

Since September 2020, 50 educational institutions in the UK have partnered with student specialists, Endsleigh, to provide their students with access to a market-leading health and wellbeing programme.

The programme, which was co-developed by Endsleigh and Health Assured, now provides over 323,000 students with mental health support via a number of key features. These include access to a 24-hour qualified, confidential counselling helpline and the My Healthy Advantage appwhich helps students track and improve their wellbeing.

Since the service has been rolled out, Endsleigh have noted that the three most common reasons for contacting the counselling helpline are anxiety, low mood and depression. Following a global pandemic and several pieces of research highlighting the deterioration of students’ mental health, Endsleigh are pleased to be playing a key role in helping students manage their wellbeing during one of the most important periods of their life.

University and college uptake of the programme has accelerated throughout 2021, with University of Manchester and University of Hull both keen to get on board to provide advanced wellbeing support to their students.

Endsleigh first developed the programme with Health Assured to meet the wellbeing provision demand that they were facing. David Johnson, Product and Distribution Development Manager at Endsleigh, says:

“We are proud to be one of the organisations who are leading the way with student wellbeing support. Our programme is now available to almost half a million students in the UK through their universities, and this is only set to keep growing.

The service is increasingly well-received by students who are continuously accessing the service out of hours (with over 40% now calling outside of 9-5 and over weekends).

We encourage educational institutions keen to understand more about how our services can support their wellbeing teams to get in touch with one of our team.”

Universities and colleges wishing to speak to Endsleigh about supporting their students with the programme should email studentwellbeing@endsleigh.co.uk
