What should I put as my occupation?

Your occupation is just one of a number of factors used to calculate your premium, which is why we need the occupation you state on your insurance quote to be as accurate a reflection of your job as possible.

If I know my occupation will change during my policy, what should I input on my quote?

The occupation that you currently have unless it's changing within 7 days. If your occupation changes mid-term - for example, you've graduated university and are no longer a student - you'll need to contact us to let us know.

My second job is only a few hours per week, do I need to tell you?

All occupations must be declared so that your insurer can properly assess your requirements and offer you an appropriate premium. Endsleigh's dividing line is 16 hours, if you work more than that per week it is classed as your main occupation.  If you have a secondary occupation at 16 hours per week or less, this is classed as a part time job and must be entered on your quote as a part time occupation.

If you are a full time Housewife/Househusband who also works part time, please put 'Housewife/Househusband' as your main occupation and then give details about your part time work.

If you are claiming Job seekers allowance but still working part time hours, please put 'Unemployed' as your main occupation and then give details about your part time work.

Who do you define as a graduate?

A graduate is defined as a person who has received a degree level qualification from a UK university.
A student is someone that is in full time education and attends an academic institution the majority of the week.
If you are on an apprenticeship you will need to enter your full time occupation as the trade the apprenticeship is in and then enter that you are a part time student.
If you are an open university student you will need to enter that you are a part time student.

I'm on placement this year - what should I put as my full time occupation?

If you are on placement, taking a gap year or on an apprenticeship, you should enter your new job title as your main occupation. If you are on a gap year and not working you will need to enter that you are unemployed. You will then need to enter a part time occupation as a 'student'.

You must inform us if your placement starts during your policy term, so that we can amend your occupation as a mid-term adjustment and let you know if your premium is affected as a result. For some people, placements can mean a change to the annual mileage or even the use of the vehicle if you change to commuting or business use, all of which can affect your overall premium.

I'm trying to get a business insurance quote - what do I do if I have multiple trades or occupations?

You have the option to list multiple trades/occupations so that we can fully understand your business. If you need some help selecting the right trade please call us on 0333 234 0021.
