Three Gloucestershire charities welcome support from Cheltenham insurer

Staff at Endsleigh Insurance Services having been busy pounding the pavements to help raise almost £4,000 between each of their three chosen charities. The funds were raised throughout the summer during their “Endsleigh Runs The Country” colleague challenge, which saw over 5621 miles covered by the staff (due to Endsleigh turning 56 in 2021). £1,300 each was donated to, Winston’s Wish, Cheltenham Animal Shelter and Community Connexions.

Endsleigh’s team’s set out to cover this distance within the testing time frame of eight weeks and exceeded their target by achieving 5,622.33 miles. The funds raised by the staff were topped up to the final figure of £3,900 by Endsleigh, which was equally split between the three charities.

Winston’s Wish was the UK’s first childhood bereavement charity. Since 1992, they have supported bereaved children, young people, their families and the professionals who support them. They will use their donation to continue providing support to bereaved children and young people.

Cheltenham Animal Shelter has helped animals since 1926. They rescue dogs, cats and small animals from across Gloucestershire, with approximately 650 animals passing through their doors each year. They will use their donation to build a new rabbit bonding pen, which will help rabbits at the shelter find companionship in a relaxed environment.

Community Connexions provides transport for people of all ages across Gloucestershire who would otherwise struggle, enabling independence and inclusion. This may be due to physical, mental, social or rural barriers. They will use their donation to help them obtain a wheelchair-accessible commercial vehicle to transport disabled service users.

Further to the donations, Endsleigh will continue to support these charities going forward. Future events include a summer fair, raffles and even a fire walk. Endsleigh employees will also have the opportunity to volunteer for any of the three charities throughout the year.

Ben Harris, Charity and Community Organisations Partnership Manager at Endsleigh Insurance Services, says,

We understand that many organisations have faced difficulties in the last 20 months, especially those in the third sector. Since the first day of the first lockdown, not-for-profit organisations have gone above and beyond in supporting our communities. The third sector has joined together to keep their doors open (if able to) and their services running in any way possible.

We have been doing our utmost to support our charity clients with insurance, whether that be premium savings, ideas for generating income or claims support.

We are passionate about what we do and are delighted to support these three amazing charities who do so much for the community. Whilst many charities still face challenges of increased demands and constrained fundraising, we hope that these donations from our people at Endsleigh will make a difference to those who need the vital support that these organisations provide.”
