What legal cover do I have on my landlord insurance policy?
Landlord
Landlord legal cover provides up to £50,000 to help you pursue your legal rights following property damage, nuisance and trespass and repossession. It can aid in the recovery of rent arrears and provide legal support to defend a prosecution against you that arises from you letting your property. We can even provide cover towards any accommodation costs whilst you are unable to get possession of your property and you wish to live there.
Phone ARAG on 0333 000 2081 at any time to get legal advice over the phone about any problem you have, either as a landlord or concerning any other personal legal matter or for advice about UK tax rules. Legal advice is available 24/7 every day of the year while we can respond to enquiries about UK tax law between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
There must be greater than a 50% chance of successfully pursuing your claim against another person, and any claim must be reported to us during the period of insurance and within 60 days of you becoming aware of the insured event. We will not cover the other side’s costs in criminal cases, fines, penalties or compensation awarded against you. We cannot cover any legal costs and expenses incurred before we agree to cover your claim. Your property must be let for residential purposes only and with an annual rent not exceeding £100,000.
Our landlord insurance policies were updated in 2011. If you have a landlord policy with us from this time (usually beginning with 'EL' or 'TS') then your current cover may differ slightly from this information. Check your policy documents for full details of your cover.
