My policy number begins EL/TS - what landlord buildings cover do I have?
Landlord
If you are a long-standing landlords customer with us and your policy number starts with 'EL' or 'TS' - You provided the rebuilding cost of your property and that figure is index linked to follow market fluctuations year on year. You are covered against damage or loss from fire, theft, storm, burst pipes and flood. We also provide loss of rent up to 20% of the sum insured if the property is uninhabitable due to an insured cause such as fire or flood. You also have liability as owner of the building, which is covered up to £2 million if anyone is injured in the property.
Claims are settled on a new for old basis and the policy extends to your garage and outbuildings. No cover for loss or damage applies if the home is left unfurnished or unoccupied for over 120 days. Excesses start at £150, increasing to £500 for escape of oil, or water, or damage to fixed water or heating installations by freezing. The excess for subsidence damage is £1000.
Our landlord insurance policies were updated in 2011. If you have a landlord policy with us from after that date (policy number usually beginning with ‘LA’, ‘LG’, 'LE', 'LZ' or 'LX'), or you are a brand new customer, then our current cover may differ slightly from this information. Please check your policy wording for full terms and conditions.
