What landlord buildings cover do I have?
Landlord
Our residential landlord insurance will provide cover for:
- Your buildings up to £1 million against damage or loss from fire, theft, storm, burst pipes and flood as standard
- Loss of rent cover up to £300,000 (30%) if the property is uninhabitable due to an insured cause such as fire or flood
- Malicious damage by tenants or guests up to £25,000.
- Up to £5 million owners’ liability cover if anyone is injured in the property, and up to £5 million employers’ liability
- Up to £1000 to replace keys and locks to your external doors following theft or loss of your keys
- Up to £7,500 cover for trace and access following an escape of water from any fixed water or heating installation
- Up to £3,000 for your tenants' alternative accommodation costs following a loss or damage covered under the buildings section of the policy that has made the property uninhabitable.
In the event of a claim we may repair, reinstate or replace the lost or damaged property. If we cannot replace or repair the property, we may pay for the loss or damage in cash.
No cover for loss or damage applies if the home is left unfurnished or unoccupied for over 90 days, or 120 days if you are renting your property to students.
Our landlord insurance policies were updated in 2020. If you have a landlord policy with us from before that date (usually beginning with ‘LA’, ‘LG’, ‘LZ’, LX’, ‘LE’, 'EL' or 'TS') then your current cover may differ slightly from this information. Please check your policy wording for full terms and conditions.
