What does landlord home emergency cover?
Home emergency is optional cover that can be added to your landlord buildings insurance policy to protect your property against the loss of essential services, and to make your property safe and secure following unexpected damage.
As this is unexpected emergency cover only, home emergency does not cover against routine maintenance costs of wear and tear, or damage caused by faulty workmanship or DIY.
What does home emergency cover include?
Endsleigh’s optional home emergency cover can protect you 24 hours a day for emergencies in connection with:
- Plumbing and heating system problems
- Security of doors and windows
- Roofing problems
- Drains and sewer blockages
- Down pipes and guttering
- Domestic power supply problems
- Lost keys
- Vermin infestation
We can also offer you cover for overnight accommodation costs if your property becomes unsafe or insecure, and there will be no excess to pay on the policy, although there is a policy limit of £500 which also includes cover for parts and labour.
Do I need landlord home emergency cover?
It’s not a secret that arranging repairs in the event of an emergency can be a hassle – particularly if you’re a landlord that lives far away from their rental property. Should your roof spring a link or a drain get blocked, you’ll need to respond to these issues as quickly as possible to mitigate any further damage.
Home emergency cover provides 24 hour assistance and no call out charges, meaning that any household emergencies can be dealt with quickly and conveniently by a team of trained professionals. Some insurers will even allow you to add your tenants to your landlord home emergency cover as an interested party so they can make claims and arrange repairs on your behalf.
Can I cover my boiler with home emergency cover?
Yes. By purchasing home emergency cover as part of your buildings or contents policy, you will be covered for a boiler breakdown. Bear in mind that for boiler cover, this policy will require an annual service.
