Do you work in the charity and not-for-profit sector?

charities are doing to recruit and retain employees.

A big thank you to Tom Jones, Head of Income Generation and Communications, at the charitYoung Gloucestershire">Young Gloucestershire for agreeing to talk about how his charity is re-thinking its operating model to navigate the cost of living crisis. You can read Tom’s case study here.
Mental health and wellbeing are at the top of everyone’s agenda. A school’s environment plays a part in contributing to the potential risks that impact the overall mental health and wellbeing of pupils and employees. Our Risk management and a holistic approach to school wellbeing webinar last year looked at what schools can do to mitigate their risks. Watch the replay here.

Supporting student accommodation providers with their students' wellbeing
The importance of insurance in helping students with their wellbeing shouldn’t be underplayed. We partner with student accommodation providers so they can deliver group contents insurance as part of their overall package. This provides peace of mind to students that their possessions are insured while in their accommodation and saves them the additional cost of having to source their own insurance. We can even cover therapy or emotional support pets.
Immediate response at times of crisis
A major fire at a student accommodation block resulted in the evacuation of 200 students, with many of the rooms being destroyed by fire. The accommodation provider and students required immediate support and having Endsleigh on site to guide students from a claims perspective made a real difference. Students’ claims were processed within four days.

We kicked off 2024 with some great new business wins from 2023. Here are a few highlights.
Risk management

Saint Pierre School, Leigh-on-Sea: the school couldn't find a one-off Health and Safety audit without tying them into a lengthy contract. After the audit, the school felt more confident in terms of knowing what they need to do going forward, prior to their school inspection.

Fairview International, Stirling: the school was looking for an updated fire risk assessment to support them with their insurer risk control measures.  Recent additions to the facilities staff felt more confident post assessment in terms of managing fire
safety within their site and the client was satisfied that student safety was assured.

Student wellbeing
Unite Students: a unique solution to provide 70,000 students 24/7 wellbeing support. Endsleigh’s 24/7 Student Wellbeing Helpline and Digital Therapy provides students with unlimited access to a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited, 24/7 counselling helpline. It has an interpretation service in over 240 languages and online support resources including cognitive behavioural therapy.

Travel and Crisis Repatriation
Endsleigh’s recently launched International Student Crisis Insurance is designed for UK universities in the event of an emergency and covers the costs of appropriate transport to repatriate an international student to their home country, in the case of a death, serious injury or illness. Cover also includes costs for professional counselling for the student, and for two family members to travel from their home country to the UK, cost of accommodation, and to accompany the student on the return journey.

We are pleased to announce a new partnership with Sheffield Hallam University who by opting into this bespoke cover is strengthening its crisis management service and providing welfare to their international students travelling from overseas to the UK this year.

Specialist Youth and School Group Travel Insurance for Tour Operators

Endsleigh is delighted to form an association with the School Travel Forum, the leading national association of all accredited tour operators who specialise in creating educational trips and tours. We now partner with more than half of their members, and our specialist youth and school group travel insurance is included within all their group bookings services.

From football tournaments and volunteering at the local animal shelter, to cycling 450 miles in one week, last year Endsleigh worked hard for its charity partners, Help for Heroes, Winston’s Wish and Young Gloucestershire. As part of the Howden Group, we are also able to make an impact globally via the Howden Group Foundation. During global group giving month our teams around the world raised over £144,000, volunteered over 4,250 hours, and supported over 110 charities worldwide.

What keeps you awake at night?
That’s the question posed by Gill Martin, Director at Howden Speciality in one of Endsleigh’s latest podcast episodes. Gill’s speciality is marine insurance and talks with Darren Norris. M.D. at Howden Speciality, about insurance being a force for good, partnering with a team on a potential global disaster, ships being hijacked by pirates, and working with the UN.

2023 saw some exciting new product developments and updates. Our risk management team launched their services into schoolscharities and town and parish councils. And, after holding focus groups and discussions with our accommodation partners, we made some key enhancements to our UK student accommodation group contents insurance

What is #BeyondBroking? Not just a hashtag, #BeyondBroking embodies how we deliver peace of mind to everything that’s important to our clients and how we help them effectively manage their risk. It’s joined-up thinking, a mindset that considers how we can support our clients to deliver future growth, safely, whether it’s through risk management, wellbeing, commercial insurance, cyber security, research & insights, technology innovations, and more.
