Whilst Christmas doesn’t feel that long ago, we’re now in March and that means Mother’s Day is fast approaching.

To help you make your mum feel special this Mother’s Day, without breaking the bank, we’ve put together five top tips.

1. Flowers

A classic, but always guaranteed to make her smile. With your NUS Extra card, you can get 10% off flowers and balloons at Bunches.

2. Get baking

If you're short of money, baking a cake is a cost effective and thoughtful way to show how much you love her. Don’t forget you can use your NUS Extra card at the Co-op to get 10% off your ingredients.

3. Mother's day meal

Most of the main chain restaurants are offering Mother’s Day deals, so make sure you do your research before you book. From free fizz, to free desserts and even Mum’s eat free, there’s a lot of offers out there. You can also use your NUS extra card to get up to 50% off the bill if you choose your restaurant wisely. 4. Last minute buyer?

With an NUS extra card you can get six month's Amazon Prime for free, which means you could order a gift the day before, get it gift wrapped and even add a personal note, perfect for those less organised amongst us.

5. DIY photo album

Print off some of your family photos from over the years and put them in a photo album. Lots of websites and apps now offer free prints, so make sure you make the most of these.

Top tip: If you have a sibling, team together to get something extra special, like a spa day or beauty treatment. You'll be surprised how far your money will go, if you share the cost.
