Any new policy purchased, or new trip booked covered by an existing annual multi trip policy after 10am on Wednesday 18 March 2020, will not cover any cancellation claim in relation to coronavirus, including but not limited to, cancellation due to your diagnosis of coronavirus, FCO advice or flights being cancelled. We will continue to cover any medical claims because of coronavirus if you are travelling to an area where no FCO advice against travel exists. We offer two levels of travel insurance cover to ensure you are fully protected, essential and comprehensive. The benefits under comprehensive are generally higher than essential. We use a single provider for travel insurance quotes.

Travel insurance with medical conditions

If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you may need additional cover for your trip.

What pre-existing medical conditions are covered?

A pre-existing medical condition is an illness or injury that you are aware of at the time you take out your travel insurance policy. This includes any medical condition to which you have been prescribed medication or for which you have received, or are waiting to receive, treatment (including surgery, tests or investigations) within the last 2 years. If you have a pre-existing medical condition not covered by Endsleigh below, please visit the Freedom Insurance tab for more information on our medically informed partner agent.

If you have any of the medical conditions listed below, you will be covered automatically under our standard travel insurance policy (even if you have been prescribed, or are waiting to receive, medication or treatment in the last 2 years). 

  • Acid reflux
  • Acne
  • Allergy (requiring non-prescriptive treatment only)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Broken bones (except back and skull)
  • Cataracts; Colds or influenza
  • Dyspepsia
  • Eczema
  • Gout
  • Hayfever
  • Hysterectomy (provided carried out more than 6 months ago)
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Menopause
  • Migraine
  • Psoriasis
  • Tonsillitis
  • Underactive thyroid
  • Varicose veins

What pre-existing medical conditions are not covered?

We are unable to provide cover for any of the following conditions (whether controlled or not) where you have ever suffered from:

  • Cardiovascular conditions (any condition relating to the heart, arteries, veins or blood pressure)
  • Respiratory conditions (relating to the lungs or breathing)
  • Stroke
  • Cancer
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Epilepsy
  • High cholesterol
  • Diabetes

It’s important to let us know if you are aware of a pre-existing medical condition, as not doing so could invalidate your travel insurance policy in the event of a claim.
