With so many budget homeware options out there (Homesense, Primark, H&M – I’m looking at you!) it’s easier than ever to update your student pad on a budget. To prove our theory, we asked Fiona from interior blog Fifi McGee to give us her tips for updating a space with just £20.

Even though sometimes it may feel like your bedroom/kitchen/living room needs a complete overhaul – just a few new touches can make it feel like a whole different space! Here are three easy additions to spark your imagination.

It’s pretty much a universal truth that a sofa can never have enough cushions and with great options available for as little as £5 they are the perfect way to revamp a tired sofa. Don’t be afraid to mix and match colours, textures and sizes – it all adds to the stylish, cosy look.

Candles can be a magical addition to a room as their soft glow can instantly transform the atmosphere. Tea lights and block candles can be snapped up for just a few pounds and if you’re planning a party why not pick up some candlesticks for the ultimate chic feel.

Clutter can often crowd a room and you’ll be surprised how different a space looks when you clear away those little bits and bobs that have taken up residence on your side tables, shelves or window sills. Make the small investment in pretty trays or bowls to keep your clutter out the way, the perfect creative storage solution!
