What is travel insurance?

Travel insurance is a type of cover that protects you whilst you’re on holiday. It protects against a range of circumstances such as cancellation or cutting your trip short, medical emergencies and repatriation, personal belongings and baggage, and more.

Single-trip travel insurance covers one trip only. Whereas multi-trip travel insurance provides you with cover during multiple trips over the year.

Howden’s multi trip travel insurance policy will provide cover for multiple trips over the year. Cover can include:

Disruption to travel

This cover is to protect you against missed flights, connections and delays to public transport. There is also cover for the insolvency of the accommodation provider and natural disasters (such as a tsunami, volcano eruption or hurricane) affecting your accommodation or resort.

Medical emergencies and repatriation

Travel with ease knowing you’re covered for medical emergency and repatriation expenses, including emergency dental treatment.

Lost, stolen or damaged baggage and belongings

Travel carefully with protection for damaged, lost or stolen bags plus their contents, including passports, individual items and cash.

Cancelling or cutting short your trip

Cancellation or curtailment of your trip if you are unable to travel because of an unforeseen circumstance, for example a family bereavement, illness or burglary.

Sports and activities
