I am a student and have left property at my student address whilst returning to my parental home and am not sure when I will be able to return. Will my belongings still be covered?

If you will be away from your student property due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will provide cover for your possessions for either the standard unoccupancy period stated on your policy or until the end of the government ‘lock-down’ - whichever is longer.

If your property is going to remain unoccupied for longer than your standard unoccupancy period, please contact us to let us know.

I've moved out of halls/accommodation and I’m back home during the coronavirus, can I cancel my contents insurance?

This will depend on what your policy starts with. See below for specific details.

HH - This is a policy that was specifically taken out by your accommodation provider and as such you would not be able to cancel this policy. You can check your cover at www.endsleigh.co.uk/student/check-your-student-cover/

PZ1/PZ2/PZ3 - If your policy is claim-free, you can cancel your cover at any time. However, some policies do not allow a refund if they are cancelled within the last four months. Please check your statement of insurance for more information on cancelling your policy, including any cancellation fees or click for details of our fees and other charges.

I've moved out of halls/accommodation and back home during the coronavirus, can I change the address of my contents insurance?

I've moved out of halls/accommodation, am back home during the coronavirus and left some possessions behind. Can I downgrade my contents insurance policy to save money during this unprecedented time?

HH - This is a policy taken out by an accommodation provider and as such, may cover your contents under this policy. You can check online by going to www.endsleigh.co.uk/student/confirm-your-student-cover/.

PZ1/PZ2/PZ3 - These policies will allow you to leave items in the room for a certain length of time, please check your policy schedule for more details.

Can my contents insurance policy cover more than one address?

Unfortunately not.

Are there any changes to my policy that I should be aware of due to Covid-19?

No, there are no changes to your policy as a result of the coronavirus.

Can you still replace my mobile phone/laptop within 24 hours during the coronavirus outbreak?

I'd really like to speak to someone about my policy, but understand things are busy under current circumstances. Who is the best person to speak to and when?

We are available during our opening hours (Monday-Friday: 8am-6pm, Sat-Sun: Closed). If you have checked through our FAQs, visited your online account, tried Live Chat and you still need to speak with us, the number to call us on would be 0333 234 1557. It would be really helpful if you could avoid calling during lunch hours if possible.

How can I make online changes to my policy without contacting your team?

You can request some changes in your online account. Although, please note, not all changes will be made instantly. You can also request a call back via your online account.

What will response/claim times be like during the coronavirus?

Our insurers have informed us that their Claims Departments are open as normal. However, under the current circumstances, the majority of their teams will be working from home and possibly with reduced numbers depending on whether they have been affected by the coronavirus. This means that call wait times and claim settlement times may be slightly longer than normal. Please be assured that we and our insurers will still do everything we can to help. If your call is non-essential, it would be helpful if you could review all of our FAQs before calling to keep wait times to a minimum.

I don't have a policy yet, but would like to take out gadgets/contents insurance during the coronavirus. Is there anything that will affect me doing so?

No, there is nothing to prevent you taking out gadgets/contents insurance. Click here to read more about our student gadget and contents insurance.
