Shape your cover to include buildings insurance, contents insurance or both. You can also add optional cover to your policy such as accidental damage cover, legal cover or home emergency for extra protection. 

Buildings insurance covers your property against a range of perils including fire, flood, storm and damage caused by theft.

Our buildings insurance covers:

  • your buildings up to £1,000,000, including fixtures and fittings
  • malicious damage caused by your tenants and guests up to £25,000
  • loss of rent following an insured event
  • up to £5,000,000 property owner’s liability
  • structural damage against subsidence
  • burst pipe damage caused by frost / freezing
  • the cost of replacing keys and locks to an external door of your property following the theft of tenants' keys
  • security of your property within two hours following a report of an emergency
  • trace and access to leaking water from any fixed water or heating installation up to £5,000
  • accidental damage to underground drains, pipes, cables and tanks providing services to or from your property for which you are legally responsible

You can also add cover to protect your property against accidental damage caused by you or your tenants.

Contents insurance covers the items you supply to your tenants against perils such as fire, flood and theft.

Our contents insurance covers:

  • the items that you supply for your tenants from £5,000 up to £60,000, such as white goods and furniture
  • occupier’s liability up to £2,000,000
  • malicious damage caused by your tenants and guests up to £25,000
  • theft of contents while in the garden of the property
  • theft of gardening equipment owned by you from any outbuildings within the grounds of the property up to £1,000
  • escape of oil from any domestic heating installation excluding damage to the appliance from which the oil escapes
  • damage to your contents following escape of water from any washing machine, refrigerator, freezer or domestic water installation, excluding damage to the component or appliance from which the water escapes

You can also add cover to protect your contents against accidental damage caused by you or your tenants.

Accidental damage for your buildings

Buildings accidental damage insurance covers your property against accidental damage caused by you or your tenants.

Accidental damage for your contents

Contents accidental damage insurance covers the landlord’s contents against accidental damage caused by you or your tenants.

Key exclusions

  • Wear and tear or damage caused by pets or infestations
  • Wear and tear or damage caused by building or renovation or structural deterioration
  • Loss or damage occurring after the insured property has been left unfurnished or unoccupied for more than 120 days, or 90 days if let to non-student tenants

Home emergency cover provides up to £500 cover for call out, labour, parts and materials to make an immediate repair including emergency accommodation costs following:

  • failure of the central heating system
  • damage to the roof where internal damage has been, or is likely to be, caused
  • sudden damage, blocking or flooding of the drains or plumbing system causing water to enter the insured property

Key exclusions

  • Breakdown of a central heating boiler that has not been serviced annually, or is more than 15 years old
  • The cost of making permanent repairs or redecorating after the emergency has been resolved
  • Any costs incurred without the agreement of ARAG by their contractor

Legal cover provides up to £50,000 cover against and specialist advice for legal disputes for you and your property.

Key exclusions

  • Claims must be reported during the period of insurance and within 60 days of you becoming aware of the insured event
  • The insured property must be let for residential purposes and with an annual rent not exceeding £100,000
  • It must be more likely than not that the claim will be successful
