Employers Liability (EL)

Employers Liability is the legal liability of an employer for injury caused to an employee whilst acting in the course of their employment.

If your organisation has any employees then by law you are required to have this cover. The minimum limit required legally is £5,000,000. However, the market standard is £10,000,000. Insurers will issue an Employers Liability certificate noting this cover. Whilst you no longer have to display this certificate, you must ensure that it is available should anyone ask to see it. In addition each certificate will need to be kept for 40 years.
