Treat yourself this Valentines

Treat yourself this Valentine’s Day with your NUS Extra card

Perhaps a singleton’s least favourite time of year, Valentine’s Day can come swooping in and soon the shops will be full of slushy cards and presents this February. Fear not – there are plenty of ways to celebrate being single this Valentine’s Day and without breaking the bank. Even better, your NUS extra card includes all sorts of offers at a number of restaurants, high street shops and online stores - so you can still spoil your independent self this Valentine’s Day.

1. Get together with friends

Yep, getting together with fellow singleton friends on Valentine's Day is the real deal. Forget tradition and get together for a cosy evening in. Why not all bring a selection of foods to split the cost? Choose a film from the comedy section on Netflix, and spend the evening with good company.

2. Treat yourself

A little bit of online shopping never hurt anybody – what better way to say ‘I love me’ than by treating yourself to some new goodies! With your NUS Extra card, you get up to 25% at the checkout at your favourite stores including Topshop and Topman, ASOS and Boohoo.

3. Plan a day trip

Rather than hiding away from all of the romance, use the 14th February to get out and start exploring. Either set off on a solo travel trip or with a group of single friends, visiting a new city or even somewhere close to home. Even better, your NUS Extra card includes discount all year round with Megabus and National Express, as well as saving up to 12% on a 16-25 railcard.

4. Try something new

Indulge in a little bit of self-love this Valentine’s Day and try something you’ve been wanting to try out for a while, but just haven’t got round to starting. Whether it’s having a pamper day, trying out a new sporting activity (it’s never too late for New Year, New Me) or learning to cook a new dish - make today all about you.

5. Pick up a bargain

Let’s face it – 15th February is when the real fun begins. Get your hands on all of the discounted chocolate the day after Valentine’s Day and indulge knowing you didn’t have to rush out and purchase it 24 hours earlier at full-price.
