Romantic breaks on a budget

Is there anything dreamier then exploring a new city with your one and only? If you’re considering a few days away with your other half but concerned about it costing a small fortune, read on! We’ve put together a suggestion of the ultimate romantic mini breaks even if you’re on a budget. So grab your passport, pack your overnight bag and choose where in the world you’ll spend a romantic weekend for two…

Paris

The city of love, Paris has plenty to offer all year round. Take a trip to the top of the Eiffel tower, try a selection of foods (snails, anyone?) and practice your French whilst you’re visiting as well. There’s plenty to see around the city; keep the cost down by wearing comfortable shoes and enjoy a day of walking rather than paying for a taxi. Instead of splashing out at a pricey restaurant, pick up a selection of bread, cheese and freshly baked cakes from the local stores and indulge in a romantic picnic. If you’re coming from the UK, consider travelling via the Eurostar rather than flying from the airport - it might save you a few pounds.

Cornwall

A romantic mini break doesn’t have to mean travelling outside of the UK. Cornwall is well known for its coastal views and the good news is you can see all of it by foot, so no need to worry about paying for transport. Why not try surfing or bodyboarding? If you’d prefer a less strenuous break, plan a picnic or take a few board games along with your favourite films for a cosy weekend, without breaking the bank.

Dublin

Add a touch of Irish charm to your mini break! Dublin is an ideal location to spend a few days together without going over your budget. Explore many of the traditional Irish pubs, take a tour in an open top bus and see the sights of the city. Although you might not be guaranteed much sunshine, the variety of things to do in the atmospheric city will keep you entertained all day long.

Berlin

Germany’s capital offers such a variety that you will be spoilt for choice – if you’re looking for a weekend of shopping, or to immerse yourself in culture and history, or perhaps just to take it easy and have a relaxing few days together, Berlin is the city for the two of you. Stick to your budget by purchasing a Berlin Pass, which includes public transport across the city as well as discount at over 60 attractions, museums and restaurants.

Budapest

Arguably one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, how about a few days in Budapest with your other half? The city is filled with breathtakingly attractive buildings including the infamous thermal baths, so your social media will be looking A+. Not to mention everything is super cheap thanks to the exchange rate – a three course meal for two people at a mid-range restaurant works out at just under £23.
