Endsleigh's 'How to' Guides.

Created for Student Unions by experienced and engaging Endsleigh leaders, we’ve created a series of ‘How to’ guides in areas that we have strengths as an organisation. Each guide consists of a manual, a video interview and, where appropriate, a re-usable template.

Endsleigh's 'How to' guides cover:

Top

1. Guide to induction planning and learning styles
2. Guide to planning an effective marketing campaign
3. An introduction to conducting market research
4. Guide to managing risk
5. Guide to strategic planning
6. Guide to managing projects and new initiatives effectively

Why are we doing this?

We have experts in our business and by using this expertise we believe we can offer a unique package for Student Unions.

Initial feedback has been very positive. Matt Hyde, Chief Executive at NUS emailed us after seeing the first two and said...

“I just wanted to say I thought the first two 'how to guides' were outstanding and a real credit to the company and all who worked on them. Well done and looking forward to seeing the others.

I definitely think this format will deepen engagement with unions and it’s a no brainer to extend this out to clubs and societies staff good practice guides next. “

The ‘How to’ Guide video interviews were filmed at our Head Office in Cheltenham and at the University of Gloucestershire. They feature Endsleigh people who are experts in their fields, providing guidance on the skill set relevant to their role.  We also used students from the University of Gloucestershire media centre to film and edit the guides. The experience of working on these films will be a great addition to their CVs and will give them valuable business experience.

This guide will provide you with hints and tips that will enable you to plan a successful induction training period for your new officers and staff.

The guide covers how to put an induction plan together and explores the theory of learning and learning preferences.  This theory provides the foundations for the induction plan; it isn’t just about ‘what’ they learn but also 'how' they learn.

In order to ensure that, as a union, you are able to properly represent your membership, it is important that any activities or initiatives you engage in are based on the evidenced needs of your members this is often referred to as an ‘evidence-led’ approach.

The guide is intended to provide a good foundation if you have not conducted market research before. It can also be used as an aid in training.
