Boys go for Beckham, while girls prefer Orlando Bloom - Students select their dream celebrity holiday companions

Male students would rather go on holiday with David Beckham than Britney, Kylie, Christina or Beyoncé, according to the results of a national poll of 1500 students, released today by Endsleigh, the specialist insurer for young professionals.

Beckham was the clear winner - receiving over 20% of the vote - in Endsleigh's survey of 700 male students from universities around the country, in which they were asked to select their dream holiday companion. He received almost the same number of votes as Angelina Jolie and Britney Spears combined, who came second and third respectively.

Beckham fared less well in the equivalent poll of around 800 female students, where he placed a lowly eighth. Orlando Bloom was voted the girls' favourite, followed by Brad Pitt and Justin Timberlake.

The top five celebrity holiday companions for boys and girls were as follows:

Jeremy Paxman was the least popular celebrity amongst male students, while for the girls Carol Vorderman received the fewest votes - just one.

Endsleigh also asked students to choose where they would like to go on holiday with their celebrity date. While girls showed more exotic tastes, saying they would take Orlando Bloom on an island break to Mauritius or the Seychelles, boys would prefer to spend their dream holiday with Becks, 'somewhere in the UK.'
