New bill could reduce Van Insurance costs

Wed, 25 May 2005

A new Road Safety Bill could help to reduce Van Insurance costs by promoting safer driving and improving road standards.

The bill proposes that the courts should be able to force poor drivers to undergo training courses to help improve safety on UK roads. In addition, driving tests should focus more on producing motorists who are capable of safe driving.

The government has also called for the introduction of well-maintained motorway picnic areas that will encourage long-haul drivers to take regular rest breaks.

The bill aims to reduce the numbers of people killed and seriously injured on the roads by 40 per cent by 2010.

It is hoped that reducing the number of accidents caused by poor road safety will help to lower the number of claims and in turn lead to cheaper insurance cover.
