Travel insurance needed for dream destinations

Many holidaymakers are planning to make their dream holidays a reality this year; however, they should still remember to pack the Travel Insurance cover.

A new survey conducted by Halifax concluded that the most popular dream holiday destination is "down under", with 53 per cent of respondents opting for a trip to Australia or New Zealand. Other dream locations included the US and Canada.

However, the falling cost of long-haul travel means that many people are now planning that once-in-a-lifetime trip. One in five Brits are likely to take a dream trip during normal holiday time without a specific special occasion to celebrate.

Ian Larkin from Halifax said: "Cheaper airfares, competitive package prices and booking via the internet have all contributed to the opening up of long-haul travel and many people now consider taking a 'dream holiday' in an average year rather than waiting for a special occasion."

Holidaymakers are being reminded that even dream trips can have their difficulties and that Travel Insurance can help to cover any potential emergency medical treatment or protect against lost belongings.
