With increasing numbers of people craving a bit of sun, sea and sand, arranging annual Travel Insurance could prove invaluable for those who often decide to go abroad.
According to new research from Direct Line Travel Insurance, UK employees are using their annual sick leave to spend more time on holiday, proving that Britons are becoming increasingly keen to leave the cold weather behind and jet off in search of the sun.
Having used up their existing holiday entitlements, two million workers took advantage of their company's sick leave arrangements to take extra time off over the last two years.
And with the British having some the shortest paid holiday entitlements in Europe, whilst also working the longest hours, it is not surprising that one in 20 workers have even paid their employer for more days off.
But although British workers are desperate for more annual leave, Direct Line found that they are making the most of the entitlements they do have. One in ten British employees use their paid holiday leave to go abroad three or more time per year, it discovered.
With so many now leaving the country on a regular basis, often at the drop of a hat, an annual Travel Insurance policy could be a smart move.
Chris Price, Business Manager at Direct Line Travel Insurance comments: "For those who travel often, it may be worthwhile taking out annual Travel Insurance which provides unlimited cover - this is especially useful if, as the survey suggests, many Britons are cash-rich but time-poor and may struggle to organise Travel Insurance for individual trips."
