Shop around for most suitable travel insurance

Holidaymakers are being reminded to make sure they opt for Travel Insurance that offers comprehensive cover; otherwise they could end up paying more in the long-run.

A new report from market research company Defaqto reveals that cheap Travel Insurance cover can cost less than £10 for a two-week vacation, however, some cheap policies often offer poor levels of protection.

Instead customers are reminded that premiums are failing throughout the industry and that shopping around for a comprehensive travel policy could still offer great value-for-money, especially as insurance is vital to help protect against unforeseen events.

"With premiums at historically low levels there is no excuse to travel abroad without insurance," said Brian Brown, associate director at Defaqto.

"However, while these lower premiums are very welcome, consumers need to be careful that the policies do not come at the price of reduced cover. If the premium looks too good to be true, it probably is."
