Passengers travelling with British Airways will now have to check-in for domestic flights using a new self-service system.
From the end of April, passengers will no long be able to use standard check-in desks but will be forced to either confirm their details online or use special kiosks at airports. BA hopes that the new changes will mean a reduction in waiting times for travellers.
The new high-tech machines allow passengers to pick-up boarding passes by simply inserting their credit or debit cards, whilst travellers preferring to check-in via the internet will be able to print out their own boarding cards.
However, the airline confirmed that staff members would remain in terminals to help passengers use it the new kiosks.
Martin George, BA's commercial director, said: "Our customers have told us that they are looking for ways to save precious time where possible, so we have developed user-friendly self-service check-in systems, which they think are terrific, to help ease their journey through the airport."
Passengers are advised that the check-ins will not totally remove travelling delays and anyone planning a trip is encourage to make sure they have adequate Holiday Insurance to cover any unforeseen problems.
