Shopping around could mean big travel insurance savings

Holidaymakers could save a significant amount of money if they shopped around for their travel insurance.

A new survey has revealed that comparing different offers can mean big savings when planning a holiday.

Everything from Travel Insurance to the holidays themselves can be found cheaper of you're prepared to put in the leg work.

Surrey Trading Standards Service sent out undercover investigators earlier this month to scout for deals and found massive discrepancies between travel agents.

For example, a half-board family holiday to Tenerife - quoted in a brochure for £1,762 - was later found at other agents for £1,228 and £2,488.

In another instance, investigating a family holiday to Lanzarote over the expensive Easter break, a 14 per cent difference was discovered between different travel agents. This was equivalent to a £326 saving.
