Parents must shop around for holiday insurance

Parents are often forced to pay higher prices during school vacation times but shopping around for Holiday Insurance could help to reduce overall costs.

New research shows that parents can find themselves paying around two-thirds more to take their family on holiday during the traditional summer break as companies take advantage of increased demand.

The study conducted by bank Morgan Stanley discovered that the increase of prices varied significantly and was very high on trips to London and Florida. However, seeking the most competitive prices on Holiday Insurance could help to offset at least some of the costs of taking a break this summer.

"Price hikes can hit parents hard during the school holidays, when resorts and travel companies know that families have to take their summer holiday," said Morgan Stanley's marketing director Patrick Muir.

He added: "Whilst efforts are being made to reduce the premiums parents face, our latest research shows that Britons should shop around when planning their holiday destination to avoid paying over the odds for their summer break."
