Take a Nice trip

A number of rival cities may have challenged Nice in the 'trendy stakes' since it's hey-day in the early seventies, but the capital city of the Cote d'Azur should certainly not be forgotten for its 'vivante' verve.

Nice is easily acquainted with a vintage that improves with age and in actual fact, the departure of the fashionable fever poured on the city three decades ago, has improved Nice's appeal for the chic yet understatedly cool.

The charms of the old town or the 'Vieux Nice' as locals like to call it, are unceasing with an abundance of artisan workshops, antiques treasure-troves and quaint eateries providing a maze of opportunities to be unfurled.

Climb the steps up to the old town's chateau and you'll find the perfect arena for an early morning café-au-lait with the city's most spectacular view - commanding the entire coastline - unfolding before your eyes.

Whether you're looking for a city break or fun in the sun, Nice is the premium option, but ensure that the journey is fully covered with travel insurance, even if it is just a short sojourn.

More than half those heading away from these shores this winter for a 'city break' are expected to disregard Travel Insurance according to new post Office figures, with experts counselling caution.

As many as 54 per cent of all holidaymakers will simply not bother with Travel Insurance when jetting off for a city break, as opposed to just 24 per cent of those planning a two-week trip.
