Everything is set for your new year's eve bash, the bubbly and nibbles are in and the guests are eager to arrive, however, there is one thing missing.

Party hosts across the UK are being warned to make sure their Home Insurance is completely up to date, for the party season brings untold dangers to your home and belongings.

A survey has revealed that at least one in four people have attended a new year's eve party where something was broken or badly damaged.

And the average claim for a new year's eve bash calamity is an incredible £750.

The findings also suggest that it is the Scots that seem to attract the most party disasters, with parties in the South West being deemed the "safest" to attend.

Dangerous and expensive party antics have included a enthusiastic Glaswegian dancer whose impressive moves caused him to lose his balance and crash through the host's patio doors at a cost of £1,500.

A Newcastle partygoer caused £800 worth of damage by swinging from the host's ceiling light.

Harry Rule from Cornhill Direct who conducted the research, suggests that even with adequate Home Insurance, it is wise to move your more valuable possessions away from your potentially hazardous guests.

"We would strongly recommend that you move as many of your possessions out of the way as possible.

"Anything can happen when new year party fever takes hold."
