Football fans preparing to travel to Germany for the forthcoming World Cup are being reminded to make sure they don't forget to pack the Travel Insurance cover.
Many supporters may have neglected to ensure they have valid Travel Insurance but as Rooney proved, unforeseen accidents can often happen when it comes to the big football tournaments.
Fans are also being advised that Travel Insurance is needed in addition to the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Although the card, which has now replaced the E111 form, allows access to limited state medical treatment, it does not cover all circumstances including cancellation or lost belongings.
"We know of one case recently where a lady in Spain was covered by her EHIC for seven days of in-patient treatment, but she was then hit with £3,500 to pay for an air ambulance to fly her back to the UK," explained Dawn McMullan of Norwich Union.
Therefore, purchasing Travel Insurance could help many fans afford a costly and unexpected early exit from the World Cup.
