The Winter Olympics appears to be inspiring many holiday makers to take a trip to the slopes. However, travellers must not forget Holiday Insurance just in case they don't prove to be a gold-medal expert on the pistes.
The success of the Torino Winter Olympics has seen a sharp rise in people keen to find out more about winter sports and take a skiing holiday.
Web research firm Hitwise shows that top internet searches over the past two weeks include skiing followed by curling, ice hockey and figure skating, as people search out the best venues and holiday destinations.
Heather Hopkins, director of research for Hitwise UK, said: "UK internet users appear to be watching the games and then surfing the web for more information on the sports.
"We have seen a significant increase in searches for skiing and searches relating to ski holidays and this analysis from Hitwise indicates that the Olympics may increase interest among the UK public in participating in sports."
However, many novices taking up a sport for the first time are being encouraged to make sure they have appropriate travel and Holiday Insurance, especially as the cost of treating broken limbs is on the increase throughout Europe.
