Any adventurous travellers are recommended to make sure they have adequate Holiday Insurance if they plan to take part in the famous "running of the bulls".
The northern Spanish city Pamplona is to host the San Fermin festival this July but participants are being urged to purchase Holiday Insurance cover before trying to outrun the local bulls.
Traditionally, six bulls and two herds of tamed bulls are let lose to run through the winding cobbled streets of the city to chase people dressed in white with red scarves. The curve of the Calle Mercaderes and the last stretch of the run are concerned the most dangerous part of the course, especially because of the growing number of participants.
Over the past 73 years of the festival between 1924 and 1997, a total of 14 people have died and over 200 have been injured. Therefore anyone planning to take part in the traditional festival is well advised to make sure they are covered if they need to have emergency medical treatment otherwise they could face an expensive bill.
