Popular search engine Google could be planning to launch a new travel site to provide information for holiday makers.

ZDNet reports that Google could be set to reveal a new service, in partnership with US-based online booking engine Orbitz, to help target the lucrative holiday industry. Such a website could allow surfers to seek out the best travel deals and find the most competitive Holiday Insurance cover as well as providing downloadable content about potential destinations.

"Now, let us consider the content. Google could work with any number of content partners, but could also include travel selections from its Google Video inventory," said the ZDNet report.

Adding: "These selections could be integrated with destination guides, and even with keyword searches entered into Google Travel searches."

The internet is fast evolving as a popular research tool for many holiday makers, and the growing provision of online booking and information means that many people are help to seek out the most competitive price on all travel related services including Holiday Insurance.
