Many travellers are planning to take a trip abroad this Easter to escape the dull British weather; however, many will neglect to take Holiday Insurance cover.
A new survey from Tesco Travel Insurance discovered that 2.5 million people fail to buy Holiday Insurance because they believe it is an unnecessary expense. However, many holidaymakers soon regret their cost saving decision.
Backpackers and students are the least likely to buy Holiday Insurance but there has also been a rise in uninsured travellers taking short breaks or long weekend trips.
However, not paying for insurance can mean that many travellers find themselves having to cover expensive unexpected medical treatment and could plunge themselves in to serious debt as overseas emergency treatment costs rise the price of being flown home from mainland Europe after a serious accident could cost as much as £20,000.
Neglecting to buy appropriate Holiday Insurance also means that belongings are not covered against theft or loss, whilst some policies can offer further protection for those planning to indulge in high-risk pursuits such as winter sports.
