The strong competition within the Travel Insurance industry means leading providers are offering a range of new offers.

Barclays General Insurance has launched a new deal for customers who are planning to purchase single trip travel insurance. Any consumers planning to take out a policy to cover at least a single 14-day trip will be upgraded to an annual travel policy free of charge.

This means that policy holders will be offered protect against emergency medical treatment, provided with cancellation cover as well as insurance against lost or stolen belongings throughout the year.

Mark Till, Barclays General Insurance marketing director, said: "Our own research shows that for people who go abroad they take on average three trips a year, yet many still take out individual single trip policies which could prove costly."

He added the new offer would highlight the benefits of annual cover and ensure that "people can go and enjoy as many holidays as they like throughout the year without having to worry about getting insurance every time".
