Check Car Insurance during holiday period

Motorists are being warned not to drive their friends cars home for them because they have had a bit too much to drink over this holiday period.

Drivers who take out a drive other cars (DOC) cover on their own car and then drive other, more expensive cars belonging to friends are being accused by insurance giants Aviva of "cheating", This is Money reports.

Aviva claims that the actions of these dishonest drivers are having a negative impact on other motorists, as two of the firms it owns – Norwich Union Direct and RAC Direct – are being forced to remove DOC from their policies.

Those drivers who abuse DOC cover also make it more difficult for police to catch uninsured drivers, as it is harder to check up on someone who is neither the owner of a car, nor a named driver.

Therefore, anyone who is thinking of taking out a new Car Insurance policy in the new year and has genuine need for DOC should ensure that they choose an insurer that offers such a policy.
