Taking out cheap Holiday Insurance could help British tourists to save money as the cost of credit card spending abroad rises.
According to research from uSwitch.com, British holidaymakers will pay almost £570 million in hidden charges when using their credit cards in Europe this summer.
With an army of Brits heading to Germany for the World Cup over the next few months, and hundreds more jetting off on holiday, the price comparison website is warning consumers to beware of hidden charges and to make sure they carry the right cards when they go away.
Nick White, head of personal finance at uSwitch.com, said: "Holiday spending can be difficult enough to budget for at the best of times, without the bill creeping up through hidden charges.
"It is possible for consumers to reduce the amount they will pay in fees or avoid them all together if they take a little time to research the credit card market before they travel."
Finding a provider that does not charge additional fees for using cards abroad is important, but shopping around for cheap Holiday Insurance can also help to reduce the overall cost of a trip.
