Short breaks are taking over from traditional summer holidays and lead to higher productivity at work, a new survey has revealed.
Less then one in three (30 per cent) will be taking a traditional fortnight's summer holiday, while 70 per cent say they are more likely to take short breaks than they were five years ago, research by reed.co.uk found.
Two thirds of UK employees feel that shorter breaks lead to higher productivity when compared with traditional two-week holidays. This figure is highest in the North East (69 per cent) and the North West (67 per cent).
Three times as many people believe that the traditional summer break causes more stress than a short break does.
This trend is also likely to have an impact on insurers.
Now that consumers are taking shorter but more frequent holidays, they are likely to be looking for cheaper, annual Travel Insurance deals, rather than individual policies.
