Pet Insurance to pensions

27/05/2004

The insurance sector has welcomed plans to help consumers gain a better understanding of financial products.

City regulator the Financial Services Authority (FSA) is looking to educate people on a range of products from pensions to Pet Insurance.

Pensions have been in the news for all the wrong reasons of late and the FSA is keen to look at ways to help restore public faith in the industry.

Pet Insurance on the other hand, is an example of one of the many newer types of products, which has been booming of late.

Commenting on the initiative, ABI's head of pensions and savings Joanne Segars, said: "We want people to be in a position to make informed choices and know how the decisions they make today can affect them both now and in the future.

"The Financial Capability strategy offers the potential to make this a reality."

Demand for Pet Insurance has surged this year as owners seek to protect themselves against vet bills.
