Uninsured drivers hit motor insurance premiums

23/02/2005

People driving in the UK without adequate Motor Insurance add around £30 to the average premium.

This warning comes from the Association of British Insurers (ABI).

The ABI is currently trying to rally support for its proposal to make owning an uninsured vehicle a criminal offence.

At the moment only driving a car without insurance is against the law.

Insurers point out that it is law-abiding motorists that lose out as a result of people driving without insurance.
