Motor insurance rolls on

Retail outlets will still be able to offer Motor Insurance as long as they meet FSA guidelines.

The Financial Services Authority took over the regulation of certain types of insurance earlier this year.

While some motor retailers have struggled to make the grade, the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) has been granted approval.

"This is excellent news for the RMI and our members as it means we can continue to provide them with valuable advice on insurance products and inform them of the preferential rates offered through our brokers," a spokesman for the industry body said.

The RMI is urging its members to ensure their own houses are in order with respect to the new regulation.
