Female drivers are being urged to shop around for better deals on their Motor Insurance cover.
Research from Sainsbury's Car Insurance shows that many women are not getting the best premiums because they automatically assume their quote will be lower.
The average female driver's premium is around £61 cheaper than that of their male counterparts, however, shopping around could increase this saving to over £140.
Will Blackett, Car Insurance manager, Sainsbury's Bank explained that male drivers tend to have higher convictions and make more claims. Therefore women often automatically get more competitively priced Motor Insurance cover.
However, he stressed: "It's a given that all insurers take this into account and generally provide cheaper quotes to women than men. Women motorists need to be aware that these savings can vary dramatically and should seek a range of quotes - not just from their existing insurer or women only policies."
