The government is planning to increase detection of those who drive without valid tax or Motor Insurance.
The department of transport are hoping to introduce new legislation that will crackdown on the number of people who don't pay for valid insurance cover, reports Auto Express.
One proposal includes the introduction of Statutory Off-Road Notification (SORN) to those drivers who do not hold a current insurance policy. The system would operate along similar lines to the SORN of vehicles and could result in a £1,000 fine if drivers refuse to complete the document.
It is hoped that the system would enable police to track down motorists who break the law by driving without insurance by allowing them instant access to a database of non-policy holders.
