Over one million drivers could be breaking the law without even knowing, according to new research.
Businesses asking employees to use their cars for work purposes could be putting workers at risk of driving uninsured.
A study conducted by motorinsurance.co.uk discovered that many people are driving without valid business insurance policy cover - with a third of owner-managers admitting that they are unclear if they have adequate insurance for work-related trips.
Mark Bower-Dyke, managing director of motorinsurance.co.uk, said: "If people are using their cars for a business trip, they must be insured under a Class one use - a business use - policy.
"If they only have a domestic and social use, the insurance companies do not have to pay up if they have an accident."
