UK mortgage addresses needs of first-time buyers

Date: Wed, 19 Oct 2005

A new mortgage service has been launched by the Co-operative Bank to help first-time buyers.

The Co-operative's campaign aims to offer those stepping on to the property ladder a range of specially targeted products and services as well as a "mortgage minder" telephone service to provide information on how an application is progressing.

The bank is also hoping that first-time buyers will be attracted by products such as a parental guarantor mortgage, a no deposit or 100 per cent mortgage, and a graduate mortgage.

"This is just the first step of our innovative first-time buyer mortgage service. Buying a home for the first time is a frightening prospect for a lot of people and, as such, we appreciate the need to offer ongoing help and guidance throughout the process," said David Newman, director of marketing management at the Co-operative Bank.

He added: "Both our new product range and the telephone service are an example of us looking after our customers and providing them with a convenient and easily accessible way of doing business with us."
