Life insurance a must before a move abroad

Date: Mon, 04 Jul 2005

Those planning to move to a better lifestyle abroad must still consider the advantages of having life insurance cover.

Recent research suggests that more people are relocating to different countries in order to benefit from a substantially lower cost of living.

Stuart Birch from Devon relocated to New Zealand in 2002. Having accepted a job within the ministry of economic development he feels that his lifestyle is better than his UK counterparts.

"The wage here grants you a very good quality of life that you wouldn't have on an equivalent wage at home. I have a beautiful flat with a view now, but if I was in the UK I wouldn't be financially able to live as I do," said Mr Birch.

But it is imperative that people taking these opportunities plan for every eventuality and make provision for the financial effects of a death on a partner by taking out life insurance. Foreign Residency Life Insurance and other speciality policies are usually available.
