Those people at risk of developing coronary heart disease are being urged to ensure they have adequate healthcare provision and life insurance cover.
Modern UK lifestyle choices mean that the more people are at risk of developing high cholesterol levels, which in turn can contribute to the development of high blood pressure and intensify the risk of heart disease.
Tessa Webster, customer service director, at Legal & General Healthcare said, "Everyone over the age of 35 should have their blood pressure and cholesterol level checked regularly and is more important if you have other risk factors such a being a smoker, diabetes or a family history of heart disease or stroke."
Anyone concerned with their cholesterol levels is being urged to seek advice from their local GP, who can recommend appropriate changes to their diet and lifestyle habits.
Consumers are also encouraged to make sure they shop around for the best competitive life insurance cover and fully research the details of policies.
