Life insurance similar to game show

Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2006

A leading financial services organisation has compared life insurance buying to the choices faced by contestants on the popular Channel 4 game show '"Deal or No Deal".

LIMRA International believe that many people try to put off the decision of whether to purchase life insurance cover because they are concerned about making the wrong choice– often leaving the decision until it is too late.

"We see the contestants sweating out their decision, wishing they had more time to choose, torn about the risk of losing what they've gained yet excited that they could win more," said Bob Kerzner, president and CEO of LIMRA.

He added: "Believe it or not, people experience the same things when it comes to buying life insurance. Sadly, many people just put off making any decision, sometimes until it's too late."

However, the survey found that those who have already invested in life insurance believed it offered protection and security for loved ones and the initial financial expenditure would be fully justified in the long-term.
