Life insurance cover could be one way of protecting your Valentine this year.
Research from MyCallCredit showed that the majority of couples are honest about their financial situation and are willing to work together to clear any debts.
The survey discovered that only one in ten people would consider ending a relationship if they discovered significant debts they did not know about; whilst eight out of ten would forgive their partner and help them resolve the situation.
MyCallcredit director Alison Nicholson says: "People can easily get carried away when theyre in a relationship and not worry about their partners financial habits. Thankfully, our research proves that in the vast majority of cases partners can trust each other when it comes to money.
He added: "The problem comes with the small minority who arent entirely open and honest and this can have a huge impact on their partners."
One way of protecting loved ones could be to take out life insurance cover that would help cover the value of the outstanding debts if the worst should happen.
